CorasWorks Announces New Version of Its Software Platform for Microsoft SharePoint 2013

 

CorasWorks Software Platform v11.3 Leverages SharePoint 2013, Expands Mobile and Browser Support, Adds Significant Performance Improvements, and Includes Other Key Features

 

Reston, Va. – June 27, 2013 – CorasWorks Corporation, a global leader in work management solutions and applications on the Microsoft SharePoint platform, today announced a new version of the CorasWorks Software Platform for Microsoft SharePoint.  This new version— v11.3— runs natively on Microsoft SharePoint 2013 and includes features and capabilities to address changes relevant to and driven by SharePoint 2013.  Version 11.3 also expands browser support to include Internet Explorer 10, Google Chrome (including Chrome on Android), and the Apple iOS, enabling iPad users to leverage business solutions built on SharePoint.  It also includes several new features and significant improvements in performance.

The CorasWorks Software Platform is an integrated set of features, capabilities, and services designed to facilitate and streamline the development, customization, and maintenance of SharePoint-based solutions.  Customers currently use the Platform for a variety of solutions, including Task, Team, and Project Management; Request Management; Business Processes; and Dashboards, Reporting, and Visibility. 


One of the key new features of Version 11.3 is the introduction of the CorasWorks Application Service (CAPS).  CAPS is a major step forward in the configuration of simple-to-complex solutions on SharePoint.  Through CAPS organizations can significantly enhance application performance and simplify application architectures.    With CAPS, organizations can improve the performance of their SharePoint solutions by up to 400%, simply by stepping up from the traditional connected web part model to the new functionality of CAPS.  This new CAPS-powered architecture supports JSON, HTML, and XML outputs and provides the additional benefit of simplified design and easier troubleshooting for application projects.


In addition to improving the performance of SharePoint and the improved solution architecture, CAPS offers a collection of other capabilities that can be leveraged for more powerful and effective applications.  For example, with CAPS, Claims-based authentication can be implemented without requiring ADFS in the SharePoint environment. 

 

Supporting the XSLT 2.0-capable processor on SharePoint 2010/2013 is a major addition to the CorasWorks Software Platform and, in combination with CAPS, significantly improves the ability to analyze data and generate dynamic displays.  Not only does the newer processor perform faster, but writing XSL and achieving the desired output is easier. All the issues associated with XSLT 1.0 are no longer a concern. The new processor adds better, more straightforward support for grouping, expanded data types including Dates and Times, the ability to define custom functions within XSL, a vast collection of new, built-in functions, and more.

 

Another key, new feature of Version 11.3 is a Document Check-in/Check-out and Versioning capability for document libraries.  As with all other CorasWorks features and capabilities, the Document Check-in/Check is not limited to a single document library, but instead works across multiple libraries, sites, and site collections.

 

“Document Check-in/Check-out is a very popular feature with many of our customers who are doing document management-type solutions and activities,” said Naselius. “With this, you can apply document check-in/check-out to any of the documents you see within a display, regardless of where those documents come from.  It’s another expansion and use of our trade-marked  ‘roll up’ technology.  Now you have the ability to roll up documents across your environment, present them to your users, and apply document check-in/check-out...all from the same display.”
